Chunyan was born in Sichuan, China, and grew up in a family full of doctors, so it was probably inevitable she'd end up in medicine. She started with Clinical Medicine and discovered her love for research during her undergraduate years at Zhejiang University. That spark led her to complete a Ph.D. in Pathology and Pathophysiology, also at Zhejiang, where she explored how cells recover and rebuild after injury. In 2025, she joined the Mesa Lab at Princeton as a postdoctoral researcher. These days, she's curious about how the body repairs itself—and how we might give it a little help.
